Batik Fabric is an unusual dyed textiles, with a special technique of hand dyeing, which originated over 2000 years ago in Indonesia. Wax resin is applied to the fabric in specific places and then dipped into the paint to create amazing designs and patterns. The basis can be various materials, but most often Cotton, Silk or Rayon.
The textured look of batiks is versatile and suitable for all kinds of sewing, especially for quilting and patchwork, tailoring and making bags and purses.
Since it is very labor intensive to produce, Batik fabric usually costs more than regular printed fabrics.
