Broadcloth Fabric is a type of plain weave dense fabric, historically made from wool, now made primarily from cotton or cotton-blend fibers. Another name for this fabric is Poplin, it is more commonly used in British culture.
Properties of broadcloth fabric:
- The fabric is soft;
- Drapes well around the body;
- Has a slight luster;
- Opaque and thick in touch.
Broadcloth is not as widely used now as it once was, although it is still used in the manufacture of clothing, curtains, upholstering, in craft projects and quilting.
