Felt Fabric

Felt Fabric is a textile material that is produced by matting, compacting, pressing and felting fibers. It is made from both natural fibers (such as animal fur or wool) and synthetic fibers (such as acrylic or rayon) or even from mixed ones.

Advantages of felt fabric:

  • Highly flame retardant;
  • Has sound dampening properties;
  • Well absorbs moisture;
  • Available in a wide range of colors and thicknesses;
  • Usually inexpensive.

Disadvantages of felt fabric:

  • Minimal elasticity;
  • Can pill or fuzz over time.

Felt is today used to make accessories for women such as hats and bags, wallets and even shoes. It is also used to make toys for children, mobile phone cases, insoles and various parts of clothing.
