Poplin Fabric is a type of plain weave dense fabric, historically made from wool, now made primarily from cotton or cotton-blend fibers. This cloth name is more commonly used in British culture, and Broadcloth is used in the United States.
Properties of poplin fabric:
- The fabric is soft;
- Has a slight luster;
- Drapes well around the body;
- Opaque and thick in touch.
Poplin is not as widely used now as it once was, although it is still used in the manufacture of clothing, curtains, upholstering, in craft projects and quilting.
