Rayon Fabric

Rayon Fabric is a semi-synthetic material that is made from cellulose fibers that have been treated with a range of chemicals to change the structure. There are many varieties of rayon fibers, some of which mimics the feel of natural fibers such as: silk, wool, cotton and linen.

Advantages of rayon fabric:

  • Soft, smooth and drape well;
  • Beautiful and shiny texture;
  • Very pleasant to the body;
  • Absorbs moisture and water well;
  • Does not electrify;
  • Well stained and retains color.

Disadvantages of rayon fabric:

  • Passes air worse than natural, but better than synthetic;
  • Absolutely no stretch, easy to tear when wet;
  • When sewing causes inconvenience;
  • Needs delicate care.

Rayon is used for sewing weekend, home and casual wear. Scarves and stoles are very popular, they look like natural ones, while being affordable.
