Velvet Fabric

Velvet is a special type of fabric that has a short, dense pile that gives it a distinctly soft feel. In the past, velvet was usually made from silk, but today it is also made from cotton, linen, wool, and synthetic fibers.

Advantages of velvet fabric:

  • Durable and wear-resistant;
  • Surprisingly soft to the touch;
  • Gives a luxurious look to any fashion item.

Disadvantages of velvet fabric:

  • Can sometimes be a bit static;
  • Can change shade from frequent touching.

Velvet is used for tailoring stylish dresses and eveningwear, robes, dance costumes, hats, as well as bedding; very popular for luxury upholstery, wall hangings, curtains, various accessories and crafts.
